EWR: Eighteen, Welcome To Adulthood

Welcome to the July 26, 2009 edition of Everything Worth Reading. I'm aware that today is July 28th. Mea culpa. My Sunday involved a massive hangover after three hours of sleep due to large free drinks on the last night of NYC's Knitting Factory. As for our carnival, I sifted through a helluva lot of irrelevant posts this month. Here's a hint--if your post begins with "How To," then it is a How-To-Post and not for this carnival. Yes? Yes. Thanks to everyone who submitted good writing stuff. It's all below for everyone to enjoy.

Shaun Duke presents Reality Check: The Average Consumer and Books posted at The World in the Satin Bag.

christopher foster presents Old husband finally learns new trick posted at thehappyseeker.com.

Elisha Webster Emerson presents Monet, Manet, and Mayonnaise posted at My Inconvenient Body, saying, "A mother's circular search for a definition of "art"."

Junior presents When Should a Senior Citizen Stop Driving? posted at Car Commentary, saying, "At some point, many senior citizens should consider giving up driving."

Madeleine Begun Kane presents Contending With Time posted at Mad Kane's Humor Blog.

Jim Murdoch presents The Truth About Lies: Why I hate love poetry posted at The Truth About Lies, saying, "Why is it so hard to write a good love poem? Everyone has a go at one or two in their lives which when we run across them years later it's hard to imagine thinking we were in love could result in such rot. The article examines just what you need to include if you truly want to write truly cringeworthy poetry. Or alternatively you can try avoiding these pitfalls and maybe write something half-decent."

Richard Shelmerdine presents Some Random Haiku Poems posted at Richard Shelmerdine.

SmallTownSim presents What stands up- sometimes falls down posted at Joy's Journey To Wellness, saying, "JJ2W is an on-going journal that shares the ups, downs, disappointments and victories of living with chronic pain/illness. Filled with candor and humor; Joy definitely shares the best of herself."

Joshua Dodson presents When does inspiration hit? posted at Writers Community, saying, "When does inspiration hit?"

POST OF THE MONTH
Rich Bordner presents Unexpected Nostalgia « The Pugnacious Irishman posted at The Pugnacious Irishman, saying, "This is the testimony of my last days as a teacher at an urban high school in Los Angeles, CA."

Victoria Jennings presents Could Your Boyfriend Be Gay? posted at Time To Get Married, saying, "While it is funny when it happens on television, it is not so funny in real life and many women have to wonder if their boyfriends are in fact gay."

Fiona Leonard presents The History of the Shed posted at Year In America, saying, "Remember Rosa Parks? Ever wonder what happened to the bus she was riding on?"

Lucy presents Wedding Symbolism posted at Wedding Tips, saying, "What the wedding ring, kiss at the altar, and bride's veil symbolize."

Elliot presents Are You Just Another Ordinary Broken Hearted Lover? posted at Win Back Your Ex, saying, "Thousands of breakups occur every day around the globe. What seperates those who reunite with their ex is how well they distinguish themselves from the rest of the dating pool."

Greg Laden presents The Futility of ... life, learning, and graduate advising posted at Greg Laden's Blog.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Everything Worth Reading using our carnival submission form.
